HairSmartly helps men pick the right haircut and walk into the barbershop knowing exactly what to ask for. We explain fades, buzz cuts, mullets, clipper guard numbers and face-shape matches in plain language, with clear images and barber-ready instructions.
Why HairSmartly Exists
Most haircut advice online is a gallery of photos with no explanation. You see a cut you like, but you don’t know what it’s called, whether it suits your face or hair type, or how to describe it to your barber. HairSmartly fills that gap: every guide tells you what the cut is, who it suits, what to say in the chair and how to style it at home.
Meet the Founder: Jack Elliot

Jack Elliot is the founder and lead writer of HairSmartly. He started the site in 2026 after getting frustrated with hair advice that was either pure marketing or copied from the same few sources. He is not a licensed barber. He is a researcher and writer who digs into how cuts, products and routines actually work, and checks every guide against trusted sources and barber input.
Jack writes and updates every guide on HairSmartly himself. He focuses on men’s haircuts and hairstyles, face-shape and hair-type matching, everyday hair care routines and honest styling product comparisons.

How We Create Our Guides
- Research first: we study barber techniques, clipper guard sizes and current trends before writing.
- Sources linked: any hair-health claim is backed by a credible source, such as the American Academy of Dermatology or a published study, linked in the article.
- Kept up to date: guides are reviewed regularly, and each one shows its last updated date.
- Independent: brands cannot pay for coverage or positive reviews. Some links are affiliate links; see our Affiliate Disclosure.
- Not medical advice: for hair loss or scalp problems, we always recommend seeing a dermatologist. Read our Disclaimer.
